Favorite artist

An artist than I like is José Luis Sepúlveda (a chilean filmmaker) that directed a movie called Pejesapo, which is one of my favorite ones, and I met him because one day I was bored, looking for hidden chilean movies.

The reason why I think hi is cool is that he direct his movies  by mixing  documentary and fiction, because the most of his actors and the actresses aren't porfessionals ones but they are acting about what they do in their real lives, or at least in an important part. On the other hand, I also like the dialogs and the reality that it shows, because the script and the scenes are built at the moment and in a communitarian way.

Sepúlveda lives in the commune of La Pintana, and his films have been inspired by the dynamics of the city and its different characters. Other movies that reflect this are; Mitómana, Il siciliano y Crónica de un comité.

opinion about the blog

I think that the use of the blog has helped me to work english in written form. Because, writing different subjects and personal tastes has helped me to translate ideas more fluently, reinforce grammar and also expand my vocabulary, which is always good.
In addition, I think it is a very important tool for the career that I am studying (journalism), since english is an idiom that is expanding more and more (so its allow me to reach more people) and its correct use is essential for a communicator and, even more, in its reading and writing since it is the area that interests me.
In summary, I think that the use of the blog is a very good way of working English, since to continue reinforcing grammar is of no use if at any time it is put into practice, as were all the English classes I had before the college.

who rules the river

The article talks about an investigation by the journalist, and environmental activist, Gemma Contreras, who went to the vicinity of the Alto Maipo hydroelectric plant to show that the sediment that is throwing into the Yeso River it´s highly polluting and, therefore, dangerous  for child, for the fauna of the place and for the people.
It also talks about the injustice that means that the main source of fresh water that supplies Santiago is being delivered to a foreign company, which will occupy it in order to extract energy for others that exploit other natural sources. Added to this, Alto Maipo promoted desertification an area highly affected by this evil, which would lead to an early melting of glaciers and along with this, the exhaustion of water resources.
I found this article very interesting, as it reports on a contingent issue in the environmental field, which reflects terrible injustices, and also makes it possible to make visible the journalist who is behind all the investigation, which results in a kind of report /profile. It is also accompanied by images that illustrate what happened, which makes it more didactic to read.

Movie than I like and movie than I hate

A movie that I like, is a chilean one, called Pejesapo. Pejesapo is directed for Jose Luis Sepúlveda, and talk about an ex convict that is trying to make a living. But, the most cool stuff is than it is mixed between documentary and fiction, because the actors and the actresses aren't porfessionals ones but they are acting about what they do in their real lives, or at least in an important part. On the other hand, I also like the dialogs and the reality that it shows.

Now, the movie that I hate is Sharknado. Athough I laugh wiht it, I cant  measure why this exist and why someone put that amount of money to make that crap. And the most shoking of all, is that Sharknado has been transformed into a franchise, since there is not one Sharknado but five Sharknado. I think that the world could be a better place without Sharknado.

perfect song

these days, my perfect song is one of Nina Simone, a singer who was a very important exponent of blues, soul and jazz. And not only in music, but also a great fighter for the civil rights of African-Americans.
The song that I chose is called "love your lovin ways" from the album "that's all I ask". Which I like a lot because its lyrics are simple as well as its sound (or at least that's how it feels), and it leaves me  happy feeling every time I listen to it. Also, I feel that it is not a typical corny song of love, since it does not personify it in an idealized figure, but it focuses on details, what makes it a really enjoyable lyrics
I think this song, and album, has been a great discovery so far this year, because I had been looking for new music, and nothing attracted me enough until I heard it the past month.

Favorite Picture

I really like this picture because it was one of the best moments of the las summer.

The picture was taken in a hike to Cole Cole, a famous beach locaded in Cucao (Chiloé), specifically in the last hill to make it through. the hole hike took us around six hours, so we where really tired and a little sick of each other because we communicate in a sarcastic way, and in that moment turned very annoying. But, when we realise that we were in the last moments of the hike, it was very reliver for us, and we made the decision to frame that psychic blow.

After the hole walk, we had a really good time resting in the beach, and also talking and laughing with another travelers that we helped with their backpacks.

I think that we all remember that moment of one of the bests of the hole trip, because it was the last day we were all together (two of them had to return to Santiago).

Opinion

I think that the movement that has been build in the past few weeks is very necessary for every one:

Girls and womens have taken the protagonism in strikes and tomas against a hole system that has been controled by men.

As a concequence of the patriarchy, women have been abused, harassed, raped and, in many times, murdered by hundreds years of history. With this background, it has become untenable for women to continue living in this way; insecure and always below the man.

feminism, as the ideology of the movement, is thought for the good of all. So, how can i be against it, if it manifest to be in a more equal society, and also allow us to be a little more free, showing us that gender roles and sexuality, things that have big moral issues, are an impose illusion.

Finally, i want to add that I am very happy that this is happening, that women are protagonists and that they express their power and desire to build an environment that is safe for them and a fair society for all.

favorite piece of technology

My favorite piece of technology is my laptop, because it was a chrismas present from my parents to me. And, when Iam using it, is a sign that I am comfortably in my house (most of the time in my bed), doin whatever I want (except word stuff); watching a movie or serie, exploring in the internet or listen music.

Also, i love it because is very light and I can carry it anywhere when i have to do word stuff (plenty of that times, when i have to go out with my laptop, is for word stuff).

Adding to the above, I consider my laptop a very necessary tool to my career by the fact that it simplifies the reading and Writing, so I take care for it a lot.

Santiago from journalism point of view

I think that Santigo Could be see, under de journalism perspective, as a very important city of Chile, beacuse of being the capital and for the big amount of news that produces. Also, here are established the main  comunications media, for the same reasons.
Santiago, apart of being the principal news producer city, it can be see as a very unfair media system. This, because the industrie of comunications is linked to businessmen that have of principal objet the profits, not the purpose of informing.
Here, is not the diversity of information (news producers) necessary to a democratic system. The level of concentration is really high, and the estate do not pronounce on this in the way of ensure the existence of more diversity of publishers. Producing, under the previous facts, that the big publishers dominate the perspective of seeing things.

why did I choose this study programe

when I was a kid, I wanted to study many professions, like medicine, veterinary, ingineering, etc. And also play sports like football and skateboarding. but any of that causes endured because I sucked at it or because i changed my interest.

then, it was a period of time that I didnt like anything (when I was 13 and 14) and I started to be influenced by my big sister and mum that are big readers, and have plenty of books, so I had access to them.

so, in the last year of highschool, I knowed that I was dispersed and I liked to read. Given that situation, i choose the only carreer acorded to my personality and interests: journalism.

Now, studying my second year in Universidad de Chile, I think thatI taked a good choise, because I have time to do almost every thing I want, and I like the classes.

Meanwhile, I hope to work in a written media that have a similar point of view as mine, or create my own one.

biography

Lucas Bravo:
I born in Talcahuano in 1998 and move to Santiago in 2001, city where i studied school years in four diferents schools and lived in 3 houses before the actual one. i recently live with my two sisters, parents, and my dog, called Mota, situation that havent happened since 2013.

Now, im studying second year of journalism at University Of Chile, choice made from my humanistic approach, like the taste of reading (most of all) and the   non-existent capacity for every other area.

Also, in my free time, i occasionally cook, i realy like to see tv series,  going out with my friends or girlfriend, watch movies or simply sleep.
